GIVETEN Filigree Jewelry Design & Manufacturing handmade in Perú

The Andean man has worked metals since ancient times. Goldsmith tools have been found with more than 1500 years and numerous testimonies of this activity in scenes represented through the ceramics of various pre-Columbian cultures.

In recent years, north of Peru in the Lambayeque region, the Royal Tombs of Lord of Sipan of the Mochica culture were discovered. The gold clothing and ornaments that were found brought to light the application of very advanced techniques for their time. For these ancient cultures, gold represented the sun, day, natural phenomenon and man. while silver represented the moon goddess, the night, women and fertility.

GOLD AND SILVER FILIGREE

The art of weaving silver threads is of Moorish origin and was brought to Peru by the Spaniards during the colonization era. Subsequently, it gradually acquired local nuances and its own designs inspired by nature and the daily life of the inhabitants of these lands and allowed for a fusion between the Andean and Hispanic styles, whose ornamental and esthetic richness has great quality and value. The main production centers of gold and silver filigree are located in Catacaos (Piura), San Jeronimo de Tuman (Junin) and Ayacucho.
